“When a musician has the privilege to play a concert on a piano that has a plaque over the keyboard with a dedication to the memory of his mother, on the stage of a concert pavilion surrounded by land where his father had once grazed cattle; and the very road to the pavilion is the one on which he had first driven an automobile; and many of the “old-timers” in the audience remember more about his childhood than he could ever recall himself; When this happens, you know you are really back home!! Concord, California. where I was born: December 6, 1920.”
