New Book: Dave Brubeck: A Life In Time

Philip Clark’s new book Dave Brubeck: A Life In Time was released on February 18, 2020.

The book, with a foreword by Chick Corea, draws on intensive new research and an extensive series of interviews with Brubeck recorded on the road during the Quartet’s 2003 tour of UK; and with Joe Morello, recorded a few years before his death, and with Eugene Wright, the last surviving member of the Dave Brubeck Quartet, recorded in 2017.

A Life In Time sheds light on Brubeck as never before, disclosing his unique approach to jazz; the heady days of his “classic” quartet in the 1950s-60s; hanging out with Duke Ellington, Charlie Parker, Louis Armstrong, and Miles Davis; and the many controversies that dogged his 66-year-long career.
